This is an example of how to recap an entire conversation. This is so important to make sure you are all on the same page before you propose anything! You will learn what their issues are and recap back to them plus any commitments they made to you and vise versa. Notice that all of the previous steps have been done properly and recapped here.
An Example of a Recap Email
-From a web designer to a fitness trainer-
Hi Mike,
It was nice meeting with you today and learning more about you and your business. I just wanted to briefly recap the things we spoke about today that seemed important to you:
You mentioned that one of your challenges is differentiating yourself from the competition, especially with prospects that think that their methods of staying fit are working fine for them. You try to divert them with a few questions, but you don’t have a way of showing them what they’re truly capable of. You feel that with a website, you’d be able to show before and after pictures to give your prospect a better idea of the type of transformation that is possible. You felt that you could be losing anywhere between $1,000-$3,000 in business a month because of this deficit.
You have several relationships with gyms and fitness centers, but you feel that by advertising online with a link to your website on those fitness centers’ sites, you could grab the interest of a lot of the members that wouldn’t otherwise know about you. You mentioned that you could increase your business at least $2000-$4000 per facility on a monthly basis if you were able to do this.
You also mentioned that you often are so busy just maintaining your current clients, you have a hard time actively prospecting and advertising your services. You said that it would be helpful if you had a constant means to stay in front of people, and a place to refer prospects to research to see if they are even a good client for you.
We spoke about a comprehensive website and a year of maintenance being between $2,000 – $5,000. We scheduled a follow-up appointment for Friday, December 3 at 3:30pm. At that meeting, we can take some time for additional questions, and then decide if what we propose would be the right fit for you. If not, that’s okay too, because what we do is not for everybody. If it makes sense to move forward, we can sign you up to begin the development process immediately. If I have misunderstood anything, please let me know. Otherwise, I will see you Friday.
Thank you,
Jane Jones
